Overview

During one unforgettable summer at a remote New Mexico adobe, an 11-year-old girl searches for a rare missing book from her grandmother’s library—and tries to understand why her family is so broken. While her mother journeys to the dark side of the moon for leukemia treatment, Ella must explore the strange, unfamiliar world of her grandmother on her own. Her father orbits her from a distance, as Ella befriends Miguel and Rosie, learning to accept her mother’s fate. Emotional bonds are reshaped, and Patrick Neil Doyle’s music helps tell this unusual story.
