In a changing rural landscape, Mari Pataki, a hardworking and hopeful farmer's daughter, faces her father's strict wishes. He disapproves of her love for a passionate young man, prioritizing his business dealings over her happiness. Determined to solidify his wealth, he plans to marry Mari off to a wealthy but elderly suitor, adhering to the age-old adage of "land marries land." However, her devoted lover is prepared to confront all obstacles in order to win Mari’s heart and defy his father's oppressive expectations.
