Black Beauty

Overview

Set in 1880s rural England, a widowed Squire Wendon is focused on raising his daughter, Anne. He strictly prohibits her from witnessing the birth of their mare, Duchess, but curiosity leads Anne to sneak into the stable. When caught, her father bans her from riding Duchess again. Despite this, he gifts her the mare's colt for her birthday, and she names him Black Beauty, marking the beginning of an enduring bond between the spirited girl and her new companion. The story unfolds against the backdrop of love, adventure, and the challenges of 19th-century life.
