Overview

In 1980s communist Czechoslovakia, Mara longs to escape her small village and train as a pilot in the city. Her widowed father, a Ruthenian farmer, expects her to remain and tend the land. When the government plans a dam that will flood their home, the clash between her dreams and his devotion to tradition sharpens, exposing a deeper fight over identity, heritage, and the meaning of freedom amid sweeping historical upheaval.
