Child Bride (1938)

At just twelve, Jennie navigates life in a remote mountain community, where child marriage is a grim tradition. Her schoolteacher, Miss Carol, returns after her education, determined to challenge this oppressive norm. Jennie's father, Ira, a kind-hearted man, strives to shield Miss Carol from local men who threaten her activism. Among these dangers is Jake Bolby, who sinisterly targets Jennie as his intended bride.
