Overview

At the 1977 Edinburgh Film Festival, two scrappy filmmakers scramble to raise money, find actors, and convince legendary director Sam Fuller to helm their oil-rig adventure 'Gulf and Western,' set in Aberdeen's booming industry. As they chase funds and a cast, they cross paths with cinema greats like Wim Wenders, Stephen Frears, John Boorman, Bill Forsyth, and Alan Bennett, turning their low-budget hustle into a whirlwind of star-studded encounters.
