1h 37m 1999 United Kingdom

In 1971, George Khan, the proprietor of a fish-and-chip shop in Salford, imposes his rigid Pakistani Muslim values on his family. However, his children, raised in Britain by their English mother, begin to embrace their British identity. As they navigate their cultural differences, they increasingly challenge their father's expectations regarding clothing, cuisine, faith, and lifestyle. Tensions rise as the family's contrasting views on tradition and assimilation come to a head, highlighting the struggle between heritage and modernity in their lives.
