Overview

Jonas Candide, a state executioner in early 20th century Mississippi, approaches his grim profession with a mix of fervor and flair, akin to a preacher or carnival barker. He skillfully guides condemned men to confront their fate before sending them to the electric chair. However, everything changes when he’s tasked with executing his first female prisoner, leading Jonas to question his role and the morality of his work.
