Terry Griffith, frustrated after losing a writing contest, believes her gender played a role in her defeat. Determined to prove her talent, she transfers to a new school and disguises herself as a boy. With her brother Buddy's assistance, she seamlessly integrates into the male social scene, quickly bonding with her charming new friend, Rick. However, as Terry navigates her new identity, complications arise when she unexpectedly develops feelings for Rick, complicating her mission and challenging her understanding of gender and friendship.
