Black Belt Jones (1974)
Black Belt Jones, a former secret agent turned martial arts instructor, dedicates his life to teaching inner-city youth at a dojo run by the lovable Pops, portrayed by Scatman Crothers. Trouble arises when Pops’ gambling debts attract the attention of Pinky, a local thug, who is soon backed by a group of white criminals seeking to seize the dojo’s prime property for a shopping mall. As tension escalates, Black Belt Jones springs into action, joined by Pops’ fierce daughter, Sidney, who proves to be a formidable martial artist in her own right.
