The Last Time We Were Children (2023)
Amid the turmoil of summer 1943 Rome, four children navigate their own version of war, blissfully unaware of the real conflict surrounding them. Italo, the affluent son of a Federal officer; Cosimo, whose father is imprisoned; Vanda, an orphan with faith; and Riccardo, a Jewish boy from a wealthy family, forge an unbreakable bond. Their friendship, untouched by the societal divides of a war-torn Europe, faces a brutal test when Riccardo is captured by the Germans. Determined to rescue him, the trio embarks on a perilous journey through a ravaged Italy, confronting soldiers, deserters, and the harsh realities of war.
