The Marriage Lie (1918)
After the death of her father leaves her destitute and abandoned, Eileen Orton contemplates taking her own life. Meanwhile, Douglas Seward, who needs a wife to secure the job he desires, forms a friendship with Eileen. He proposes a deal: if she agrees to pretend to be his spouse, he will provide her with the support she desperately needs.
