Overview

Sharing a common language and cultural heritage, millions of Korean families were shattered by the 1953 Korean War, leaving deep scars that persisted into the early 1990s. As the world moved forward with the end of the Cold War, the Korean Peninsula remained a divided realm, fraught with the fear of mutual annihilation. Following one man's poignant quest to reconnect with his sister in North Korea, directors Takagi and Choy explore the profound personal and political ramifications of this enduring division. Notably, this marked the first U.S. project allowed to film in both North and South Korea.
