City of Joy (1992)
Max Lowe, a disillusioned surgeon from Houston, becomes frustrated with the red tape of American healthcare. After a devastating loss in the operating room, he makes a spontaneous decision to seek clarity in India. However, upon arriving in Calcutta, Max’s journey takes a perilous turn when he is assaulted by a gang, leaving him stranded without money or identification. As he navigates this new and chaotic environment, Max must confront his own vulnerabilities and discover the resilience he didn’t know he possessed.
