Nowy świat (2015)

This film weaves together the journeys of three immigrants striving to forge new beginnings in Poland. Azzam, an Afghan who served as a translator for the Polish military, grapples with the trauma of war while feeling like a pariah back home. Wiera, a Ukrainian, seeks refuge in Poland to pursue gender-affirming surgery, but a surprise visit from her father and young son forces her to confront her identity. Meanwhile, Żanna, a Belarusian fleeing a troubled marriage with a dissident, lives with her daughter at her sister’s in Warsaw, desperately wanting to establish a stable life. Complications arise as her husband faces yet another arrest.
