Gabriel Martins

Gabriel Martins, who goes by the nickname Gabito in film circles, was born in Contagem, a city in Brazil's Minas Gerais state. He pursued studies in Cinema, Video, and Photography at Centro Universitário UNA. His first professional credits came as editor and cinematographer on the short film Fantasmas (2010), which was directed by André Novais Oliveira.

Martins stepped into directing with the short Meu Amigo Mineiro (2012). He gained wider recognition on Brazil's national film scene by directing one segment of the anthology feature O Nó do Diabo (2018) and by serving as one of the directors on No Coração do Mundo (2019). In addition to his filmmaking work, he is a partner in the production company Filmes de Plastic.
