Sir Jonathan Wolfe Miller CBE (July 21, 1934 – November 27, 2019) was a multifaceted English talent known for his contributions as a theatre and opera director, actor, author, television presenter, humorist, and physician. After completing his medical training and specializing in neurology during the late 1950s, Miller rose to fame in the early 1960s as part of the groundbreaking comedy revue Beyond the Fringe, alongside notable figures such as Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, and Alan Bennett.

In the 1970s, Miller transitioned into opera directing, delivering innovative interpretations that captivated audiences. One of his most recognized works was a 1982 rendition of Rigoletto, reimagined within the context of 1950s Little Italy in Manhattan, which showcased his unique approach to classic narratives. He also served as an associate director at the National Theatre and later took the helm at the Old Vic Theatre, influencing the landscape of British theatre.

Beyond his directorial achievements, Miller established himself as a prominent figure on television, writing and presenting over a dozen documentaries for the BBC.
