Mara Rúbia

Mara Rúbia, born Osmarina Lameira Colares Cintra on February 3, 1918, in Belém, Brazil, was a celebrated actress, dancer, and showgirl whose impact on Brazilian entertainment spanned several decades until her passing on May 15, 1991, in Rio de Janeiro.

Rúbia rose to prominence in the revue theater scene during the vibrant 1940s and 1950s, captivating audiences with her dynamic performances. By 1953, her talent earned her a remarkable monthly salary of 46,000 cruzeiros as a contracted performer for TV Tupi, where she worked in both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In 1957, she transitioned to hosting her own exclusive program on the Rio de Janeiro network, marking a significant shift in her career. Although she initially left the theater to pursue other artistic ventures, the overwhelming support from fans and industry professionals prompted her return to the stage.

In addition to her work in theater, Mara Rúbia made significant contributions to film and television. She appeared in notable movies such as "Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands" and "Os Deuses e os Mortos," and starred in popular soap operas like "Sinal de Alerta" and "Feijão Maravilha" on Rede Globo.
