Hermenegildus Felix Victor Maria "Herman" Finkers, born on December 9, 1954, in Almelo, Overijssel, is a celebrated Dutch comedian recognized for his charmingly dry humor and unique storytelling approach.

Finkers made a significant mark on the Dutch comedy scene, captivating audiences with his wit and clever narratives. However, in 2000, he stepped away from the stage following a diagnosis of leukemia, with doctors predicting a life expectancy of 10 to 15 years. Despite this daunting prognosis, Finkers demonstrated remarkable resilience. In a testament to his enduring spirit, a fuchsia plant was named in his honor on August 5, 2006.

Making a triumphant return to the theater in 2007, he premiered his new show titled "Na de Pauze" (After the Break), signaling a new chapter in his career. On December 31, 2015, Finkers delivered the traditional New Year's Eve performance, known as "Oudejaarsconference," on Dutch television. During this appearance, he humorously noted that his chances of reaching 90 years old were statistically more favorable than his survival three years prior.

Herman Finkers' journey is one of perseverance, and his contributions to comedy continue to resonate, making him a beloved figure in the Netherlands.
