Mario Draghi

Mario Draghi, an Italian economist, banker, academic, and statesman, was born on September 3, 1947. He held the office of Prime Minister of Italy from February 13, 2021, until October 22, 2022. Before leading the Italian government, Draghi gained international prominence as President of the European Central Bank (ECB), a role he filled from 2011 to 2019. Earlier in his career, he chaired the Financial Stability Board from 2009 to 2011 and served as Governor of the Bank of Italy between 2006 and 2011. His leadership at the ECB was marked by decisive measures to stabilize the eurozone during the sovereign debt crisis, including his famous pledge to do "whatever it takes" to preserve the euro. Draghi's extensive experience in finance and public service has made him a central figure in European economic policy.
